My review

This book was actually suggested to me by Nadine Christian herself! I have to say I am so glad she did because it is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. Nadine Christian herself seems so lovely and is obviously very talented. I started this book around 11am today and finished 3 hours later, left feeling as though I wanted to read it again.
It is different to what I have read before there is so much more mystery around the secrets in this book compared to others which drop big hints. I think thats what I loved most about Remembering Love, the fact i knew there was a big secret waiting to come out and the build up to it was fantastic.

This book was written in Third person, omniscient. This is when the narrator follows the actions and thoughts of all the characters. Nadine has done really well here as other books I have read written in this narrative have became really confusing, this is the first story I have not got confused about and have been able to follow every little action and thought from each character.

This story is an interesting one as there are so many deaths and you can feel heartbreak for each one. You can also feel the frustration Holly is going through to find out information about her real parents, especially when James died without telling her everything. Thank god for her mother’s diary! Although to read the ending with her her mother’s diary it was heartbreaking!

The characters are really relatable and I love how everyone is close together on the island I loved all of the characters and could feel the chemistry between them. I wish I has a best friend like Kristy. The one character that really annoyed me was Masie, she was so frustrating always calling Celeste and Holly whores and then to find out it was actually Masie that was having the affair with James I wanted to kill that woman myself. The worst bit was she made Holly and Jack question their relationship as friends/lovers by dropping the “you are brother and sister” bomb on them! So much love for this book I could go on all day about how much Masie ticked me off and how much I adored the relationships between the characters.

Another thing that really had me hooked was the location knowing Nadine is from the island of Pitcairn it made me feel more like I was there, the description of the island and reading how they have to walk around with a torch at night, how there is such a small population there and everyone knows each other, also the part about the ghost birds and how their electricity is generated, shows it was all from Nadines own knowledge of her home island.  Its really interesting to know this is where Nadine lives, this is her home and she is sharing it in her book. She has made it sound like such a loving community and a beautiful place to live. After reading this I researched the island a little and it is now on my bucket list to visit Pitcairn.
Many authors live in one country and base their book in another, and when reading you can sometimes tell they are not from the place of which they set their book in from little things like the weather, slang and even the characters. Whereas this book you can tell straight away it has a personally streak in from the author.

I don’t think I have anything bad to say about this book other than I want to read so much more about the peoples lives on the island! It is just so interesting. I suggest to everyone to research the island of Pitcairn, and to also read this amazing book.
Also I think it would be really cool if there was another book based back when Celeste and Sammy were alive and to tell Celestes story or maybe even James’s as he knew the mother and Holly personally.

I loved this book so much I will for sure be reading it again!
I am going to give it a 5/5 and suggest that everyone reads this. This book should have so much more recognition and so many more readers because it is honestly magnificent. I’m in love yet again with another book.
I hope you have enjoyed my review and wish for everyone else to enjoy this book as much as I did.

Or that this is the start of an obsessive, intense relationship that will lead them both into unimaginable territory…

My Review

Being totally honest the only reason I bought this book was because it was in the ‘similar to Fifty Shades of Grey’. After reading the Fifty Shades books I flew into that pit of fifty shades post depression just like every other person. So when I saw Beautiful Disaster I thought I would give it a go and thank god I did!

It is written in first person, in Abbey Abernathys point of view. She is introduced as the quiet goody two shoes but as the story moves on we learn she’s not so good and she has a big past. After losing her bet with Travis she is left to live with him for an entire month. Over the month they learn new things about each other, learn about each others past and quickly fall in love but not admitting it to each other until the month is up and after dating other people. Long story short, two people with a past fall in love but are scared to admit their feelings and let each other in, when they finally do its happy ever after. Kind of.

If you fall in love with characters easily you will sure fall for Travis within the first two chapters!

There was a few things in this book that made me think WHAT THE HELL!? others that made me a little confused and angry and a lot that made my heart melt! Starting with the what the hells…

At one point in the book Travis starts singing I can’t get no satisfaction in the middle of the cafeteria and the football players sing as back up! At first I thought this was meant to be an exaggerated comparison, unfortunately not, it was a cringe moment in the book and I don’t understand why it happened.
Another what the hell moment is at the end Abby and Travis finally get married in Vegas (shocker.. not) She then gets a tattoo of “MRS MADDOX” and refers to it as her brand! SERIOUSLY!? I found it was little creepy and weird, we live in 2013 everyone knows not to get someones name inked on you! Its strange!

The one thing that confused me is why Jamie Mcguire used Country names in this book I mean one sure but two? America and Brazil were names used in this book and at first I was like huh why is she talking about countries until I realised they were in fact names! Not that its a big thing or really a point I should of made but it just confused me a little.

Moments that got me angry were ones when Travis was ‘trying to get Abby back’ I would normally call this stalking. He sat outside her apartment for days, he was controlling and seemed to find any way possible to keep her to himself all the time. He bought her a puppy just to bring her back to his apartment… CREEP! although many people ask why people get pulled into these bad boy characters who are violent and abusive to others I have to say I am a sucker for it. These controlling and violent characters always make me swoon, no idea why! Must be the writers effects.

Moving on to the good points, I love this book more than anything even though I have had a little moan about it, I have to admit it is my favorite book I have read so far, so different and intense. I sat through this book crying along with the characters emotions and getting butterflies when the cute little moments happened. The sexual tension between Travis and Abby was almost unbearable, you can tell they are in love and how much they want each other and its so frustrating reading about Abby going on dates and Travis hooking up with girls. I’m not going to lie it broke my heart a little! I recommend this book to ANYONE AND EVERYONE its perfect for any romance fan.

I always find self-published books to be the best they aren’t always well known so when a book like BD gets big you know we have another talented author in the world.

Coming back to the beginning of my review, I don’t see why Beautiful Disaster was linked to Fifty Shades at all. Yes the characters have a past but fifty shades is all about the dominance and learning how to love etc  whereas BD is about just love, there is no crazy wild sex scenes or red rooms like FS. I’m glad I found this book though as it has really inspired me to write more and learn more about self publishing.

I am giving this book a 5 out of 5 because I loved it that much!
I am suggesting that everyone reads it even if romance isn’t your genre.

I will be doing a review on Walking Disaster Jamie Mcguire’s second book, the same story but from Travis Maddox’s point of view, in the next few days be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Lost In Distraction- BJ Harvey

Author- BJ Harvey
Publication date- 3rd April 2013
Genre- Mystery, Romance, Thriller, Crime
Book Description- In the three years after a horrible crime claimed her family, Elise Halliwell has been alone, shut off from the world in a self-imposed emotional exile. She goes through the motions, finishes high school and moves across country to start college and begin the next step in her predestined life.

But her exile is dramatically cut short by the entrance of a dark haired, blue-eyed, smirking man who shakes her to the core, achieving what everyone else before him has failed to do, he makes her feel again.

As much as he wishes it were different, fate has not brought Braxton James into Elise’s life, or has it. Brax has to keep her safe from people in her life who have ulterior motives and may want to hurt her.

Elise has no idea the threat she faces, and Brax wants to make sure it stays that way. But as Brax struggles with getting close to her, he begins to live a lie. Unable to resist the pull that is Elise’s bright green eyes, infectious giggle, and loving heart, he finds it impossible to stay away, so the double life of being Elise’s boyfriend and keeping her safe begins.

My review

When I opened the book I realised that the writer had wrote the book in each character’s point of view, now normally I’m not a fan of this so at first I wasn’t looking forward to it. Elise’s character seemed mysterious and to be honest I thought she was going to be boring and rude, turns out shes a pretty cool down to earth character. After reading the first three chapters the book had already pulled me in, the way I had both character’s point of view was actually interesting and  fun to read how they were both feeling and what they were thinking.
I love the way we have Brax and Shays (Braxtons best friend and partner) relationship and also the way all three of them (Brax, Shay and Elise) get on. Shay sees Elise as a sister which I find amazing because in some books we read how the character may have jealousy or hatred towards the lovers friends etc.
Many people said the prologue ruined the book a little for them as they knew what was going to happen. Lucky for me I never read the prologues as I find them like other people said a little bit of a devil, they ruin the book a bit. Reading the prologue after I have finished the book though I do understand why some people said it ruined it for them but it doesn’t give away the entire plot or story!
There were a few things about this book I didn’t like or understand starting with Gibbons point of view, I found that after reading his little part I knew who was behind it and what was happening, although after finishing the book I’m rather happy I read his part as the book ended so sudden I would not of known who was involved as there are so many people it could be. So I guess this bad point actually has a pro to it.
Another thing I think the writer could have done differently is the name of Harry Brimstone. One point he is referred to as Harry the next, Brimstone and then uncle Harry, after a while it gets a little confusing.
I found throughout this book I felt like there was a lot of tension building up and something big was going to happen but in fact there was not much action at all, I mean when Elise went outside to confront the guy in the Black car something could’ve happened he could’ve shot a bullet or drove at her or even kidnapped her but nothing happened he just drove of. I found that this happened throughout the book it was building up to something big but the only big thing was the ending which ended too soon!
Coming to the ending in a moment, I’m guessing I liked how we were all in suspense and maybe that was BJ Harvey’s plan all along to set us up for a big ending (Which we have to wait until September for *sob*)
Another thing I don’t understand is if Brax doesn’t trust Gibbons (One of their bosses) then why when Shay calls and says Boss man (the big boss) has told Gibbons they must leave Elise alone and they will have a back up team watching her, does Brax not call up Boss man to check with him first. If he had done that I know the story would of went the other way but still its common sense!
The ending of the book seemed so sudden, if any of my reader are from England we all know Eastenders, something happens and we are waiting to see what happens next and suddenly bum bum bummm its finished and we have to wait until the next episode. Not that I am comparing this book to a soap or even worse Eastenders, I’m just saying that is how it felt. Since I read this book on my Kindle I was reading how Elise hung up and heard a gunshot then turn the page and oh the book is finished! Leaving me with a ton of questions! Who shot the gun? Is Elise hurt? Will Brax come back? I’m not a patient person so leaving me with that cliffhanger is very mean BJ Harvey!
Turning the bad points into good now, I love how the characters have great chemistry between one and other. They are all so close and you can feel the love between them.
It is a quick easy read, not too complicated (if you can keep up with the harry and brimstone name change)
the story flows really well. I did find it a little simply written with short sentences and small words etc but hey makes it more easy to read!
As I said above the story being in different points of view really helps tell the story.
I am counting the days down until the second part is released!
I have really enjoyed this book and would recommend to any reader who is down for romance and thrills.
I paid around £2.00 on my kindle for this book but I would of been open to spending more on it after reading the book!
If you are unsure about the book I would say give it a go, you can never judge a book by its cover! Thinking of that in fact the cover is a wonderful flawless photo and I have to admit it was the reason I bought the book!
I am going to give this book 4 stars out of 5 simply because of the very few faults it had e.g spelling mistakes,  quick ending and the confusion between some characters.
I hope you have enjoyed my first review as much as I have enjoyed writing it. This is my first ever book review! So please feel free to leave me some feedback on what you think I can change or what you don’t like. Send me a tweet at https://twitter.com/PaperCutsReview
Thank you very much for reading and I hope you read the book and fall in love with it just as I did!
