My review

I ALWAYS JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!  As I did media studies while at sixth form we were always told to analyse the front covers of magazines, books, posters etc, ever since then I always find myself judging covers of books before actually reading them. If I see a book with a tree on it i’m going to just assume it has something to do with maybe nature, a family (Links to a family tree) or an adventure. So that is what I did with this book I saw an attractive couple looking happy and cute together so I instantly knew it was going to be a romance book, this is where I start to judge. Everytime I see a cover like this I have the same thought “ugh another sappy romance” But really I know thats what I love. I adore a good love story, so I don’t know why I always think this. Maybe because so many love stories have the same cover? Anyway getting to my point, I saw this book on my kindle and again thought oh another love story, why not lets give it a go so…. I did and AGAIN I fell in love with another book!

So I found this book while browsing for books similar  to Beautiful Disaster, I had seen it a few times and was hesitant if to get it or not, not a clue why I was but I got it anyway. This was my first ever book I have read by Rachel and I must say I will be reading more of hers.

The story is about  a girl ; Kacey, who makes a deal with her best friend (who she has grown up with) Jake. The deal is she pretends to be engaged to Jake for a few days to make his gran happy and also save his chances of  CEO of his family’s company and in return he will pay of her student debts. Kacey is still reeling from the event that ruined their friendship but she still agrees to do it. She has grown up with the Titus family feeling as though they are her own since she lost her parents years ago. When she returns home to the titus family she finds Travis or better known as Satan to her to have grown up completely and be super hot! The thing Kacey doesn’t know is Travis has been in love with her since they were children and his feelings still haven’t changed.

I genuinely did like this book but there were a few things that I didn’t like or that could have been different starting with the immaturity of the characters, they are supposed to be in their 20’s but they are rolling on the floors and throwing eggs at each other, I know its supposed to be all cute and romantic but there was nothing cute or romantic about  a hot guy with egg down his pants! There relationship (Kacey and Travis) is cute but a little annoying with all the remarks about the past such as frogs in beds I don’t think we needed to know too much about their past as it would’ve been nice to kind of imagine it ourselves, but I guess it worked!

Another thing that made me a little annoyed was Jake’s character he starts out so cool and I really liked him then we realise what a total Douchebag he is and hate him, then I started to feel a little sorry for him and then I hated him again! This isn’t a bad point to the book may I add, just me ranting a little and venting about a douche of a so called “best friend” If my bestfriend did that to me, I would never do them ANY favour!

The last thing about the book that I think could’ve made it better would have been if there was an epilogue to let us know what happened in the future with Kacey and Travis, and also Jakes reaction to them marrying.

Moving on to the good points now, I always think its better to start with the negative and then soften to wound with the good stuff!

I absolutely love the entire idea of friends when younger grow up to marry. When I was younger all of my best friends were boys, they were just more fun and better tree climbers than the girls! Travis had always been in love with Kacey but bullied her rather than actually be nice to her because he knew she didn’t like him. It was heartbreaking when Kacey watched the tape of jake giving her the gift originally from Travis and seeing him run off because he knew she hated him. I actually felt a lump in my own throat reading that.

When Travis revealed he brought her parents restaurant I was in tears its such a lovely and cute thing for him to do for her even though she didn’t like him until the visit!

This was just such a great heartwarming book and I really did love it. The characters were great apart from the immaturity. Grandma was hilarious dating men at their age and always telling the boys what to do. She is a great character and I really liked her.

I would recommend this book to any romance lover because you will fall in love with it from the very first word. I’m going to give this book a 4 out of 5 and I hope you all read it and enjoy it as much as I did
